we love our school!

we love Mrs. Maglich!!

Susan Maglich (as beloved a woman as any teacher whom you've ever met) is retiring from our neighborhood elementary school. Last week Grant Elementary hosted a special tribute night in honor of the Maglich Magic.

Our favorite shots from the celebration AND A VERY FUN SLIDESHOW follow, but first, yet another story . . .

a few weeks ago a playground mom friend, Mary Beth, mentioned that she'd bumped into Mrs. Maglich in the grocery store buying cake and party supplies for one of her students who was celebrating a birthday but who wasn't able to bring special snacks or treats to first grade that day. So Mrs. Maglich stepped out of the building during her planning hour and reached into her own pocket and figured out a way to make this kid feel extra special . . . "she was even getting the fancy napkins!"
we are LL-ll-ucc-cck-kkyY! -- our kids go to a school where expectations are high, smiles are big, and hugs are heartfelt. A place where everybody seems to know that yes, absolutely, the little things DO matter. Click here to see the slideshow and you'll see a lot of love....the love that kids can have for a great teacher:

that colleagues have for each other:

The love that Susan has for the job she's done so well so long,

and the love and admiration of her own parents who came down from Iowa for the celebration.

many thanks to you, Grant School.
You make our lives better EVERY SINGLE DAY and oh we do love you for it!!!

with the happiest of hearts,
amy (+ paul, and kim + david, too)
